New Music Monday: Money Can’t Buy

MONEY CAN’T BUY

This Monday at 11am Eastern on island92.com, I’m featuring my song “Money Can’t Buy.”

I wrote this song a few years ago while sitting atop my penthouse in St. Maarten watching the yachts come in through the Simpson Bay Bridge.

It seemed every time a big yacht would come in, right behind was a bigger one. And then a bigger one, And then one with a helicopter on back, and then another with a helicopter and a mini-submarine.
I finally looked over at Alexandra and said, “You know, no matter how big your ‘boat’ is, somebody’s got a bigger one.”

The hook “What I got—money can’t buy,” slipped out of my mouth, and a song was born. We drank rum, watched the yachts come in, and wrote the fun lyrics and music to this one.

The young lady singing on this track is the incredibly talented Megan James. She sings most of my back up vocals and harmony. On this track she got to sing a little lead vocals as well.
